So my wife bought a bearded dragon while I was away on deployment. I love the little guy, he's fun and we just upgraded his cage to a 40 gallon. He's like 7 months old at this point.
Then I started noticing how often the lil boxes of dubia roaches are appearing on my doorstep. You know the 500 ct. box of roaches. Then I checked the bank statements. $44 for 500 roaches!?!?!
Weekly!?!? I thought this can't be right...so I did some math.
According to some articles beardys need 25-50 roaches per day. I want this guy to be a dinosaur so lets go with 50 per day.
500 roaches = $44
44 / 500 = $0.088 per roach (How?)
$0.88 * 50 = $4.40 per day (for bugs...)
$4.40 * 30 = $132 per month (for bugs...)
$132 * 12 = $1,584 per year (that's a mortgage payment)
I need some advice, because I'm not going to continue along this path. Sisu Beardsly needs a less bougie diet. Help please.
