I’ve had my beautiful beardie for 11 years, and during the past year she’s been having increasing difficulty supporting her weight on her back legs. She’s not overweight (in fact it’s a challenge to feed her enough, she’s so picky!) and is otherwise the picture of health, she just has trouble moving around and seems to get frustrated by it. I was trying to think of a way to help her, and thought that maybe a sort of ‘beardie skateboard’ would do the trick? I’m not very savvy with building things, but I was thinking of a skateboard type thing to go under her chest and belly to support her body, with multidirectional wheels underneath it for full rotational ability, and two straps to keep it snug on her body. Does anyone have experience building assisting devices for bearded dragons? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I know she’s getting on in her years and I want her to have the freedom to roam where she pleases. She lives in a room with my other adult (7yr) bearded dragon and used to run around regularly, but now because she struggles more she stays mostly under her basking light. I had to sort of craft a stairway to get to the basking spot since she can’t jump up anymore, which I’m soon going to be turning into a ramp because she’s now had trouble even climbing her stairs.
