First off, I wanna thank everyone again for all the help and advice. Seriously.
Secondly—Daniel is a girl! I took her to the vet yesterday. Gonna be brainstorming some new names. I’m not a huge fan of Danielle/Daniela/Dani, but if anyone has any ideas for a name, please let me know!
The day after my post, I started her on her new diet. I got her some organic baby bok choy, arugula, collard greens, and endive. She’s not a huge fan of collard, but she loves the bok choy! I also ordered her some dubia roaches which she LOVES. She goes absolutely NUTS for them! I stopped the kale and the mealworms cold turkey as well.
My budget for this month has been a little tight (especially after the vet visit), so I’m going to be saving up for a ceramic heat emitter.
The vet did a physical examination, weighed her, took an x-ray, and a got a stool sample (she had conveniently pooped on the way there). The vet said all her bones, muscles, joints, and guts feel very healthy. She’s a very healthy weight as well! The x-ray showed only a tiny bit of calcium deficiency in the tips of her front toes and forearms, but other than that she’s doing just fine. The stool sample was healthy as well—no parasites or any reason to be worried!
The vet recommended some Repashy daily calcium supplements and biweekly multivitamins, so I got both while I was there. The vet also said that I caught it early enough that she might grow out of her underbite which I think is cool! I made her a follow-up visit in September to see how she’s progressing.
All in all, she’s healthy and on the right track. Thank you again to EVERYONE who responded with advice and pointers. I didn’t expect it to get that much attention, but I’m glad it did. I don’t know where to even start when it comes to research online, so you guys quite possibly saved her life. This sub and it’s users are the best!!!
