All my dragons were rescues so some by default had health issues but the thing I kick myself over and over and over about is dental care. I never thought to check it brush their teeth and gums. Well, one jaw removal surgery and $900 later, my one girl no longer has a right maxilla and may lose her right as well. My other girl also has a few teeth missing but the vet says it looks like she came to me that way.
Needless to say but I was so upset when I realized how much I messed up—especially allowing more fruits into her diet (she loved 🫐 so much) but we’re on the right path now. I’ll get the dental instructions my herp doctor gave me and send them over ASAP.
But yeah—here’s your reminder: if you haven’t been checking their teeth, start, especially older ones you’ve had for awhile.
( the vet was super nice and did a very thorough supersonic cleaning on her remaining teeth and even gave me the maxilla he removed as a gift. )
