I just ordered my Zen Habitats 4x2x2 enclosure (120 gal equivalent). Now I just have to wait to receive it, which may be towards the end of July. This works out, because it gives me time to get everything else figured out and get the remainder of what I need before I order my Beardie!
I’m just a little confused on lighting. The only reptiles I’ve had thus far are Snakes. I currently have a Black Mexican Kingsnake and he’s fantastic, as well as very simple to care for. So, having a reptile with more specific requirements is all-new to me…such as UVB lighting.
Therein lies my question. I’m my research, I found a really cool bulb called PowerSun UV. It’s an all in one and also has a one year warranty. Where I’m confused at is…do Beardies need UVB lighting 24 hours, or just the day time? My thought was to get a PowerSun bulb and put it kn a deep dome for full tank coverage…then a ceramic heat emitter in another dome for the night time.
I also see others who prefer a basking light and a Linear Hood for UVB. If I did that, what size option for the hood would I need to accommodate for this large of an enclosure?
Just so many questions and I’m trying to learn and educate myself well kn advance to getting my Beardie, so that I’m FULLY prepared!
